Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 September 2026. Contact: 1@chesnut.us.

Chesnut stores care data so you and your stable team can keep one shared picture of the horses you look after.

What we collect

Depending on how you use Chesnut, we process your account identifier, caregiver email and profile, horse profiles and care notes, photos you choose to save, questions and care context you send to Guide Light, subscription status, app version, and first-party usage events. Product analytics use screen and funnel events rather than horse names or care-note text. Website requests may include an IP address, browser information and approximate country.

How it is used

We use this to run Chesnut, restore your care space, process Chesnut Plus through Apple, and understand product funnel health. We do not sell personal information. We do not use a third-party advertising SDK for Chesnut analytics.

Where it lives

Google Firebase provides sign-in. Chesnut's active care-data service runs on Cloudflare Workers, with records in D1 and uploaded media in R2. Earlier Firebase/Firestore data may remain in restricted recovery copies. Apple processes App Store payments; RevenueCat helps validate and manage purchase access using account and purchase identifiers. These services may process data outside your country.

Guide Light and third-party AI

When you send a Guide Light question, Chesnut sends the question, relevant conversation and horse-care context, and an account identifier through OpenRouter to a model provider to generate an answer. This context can include details you entered about your horse and care space. Do not include personal or sensitive information that is not needed for your question. AI is optional; you can stop using it without deleting your other care records.

Our AI requests require zero-data-retention routing and disallow provider data collection. These request settings concern model-provider processing; they do not mean that account records, saved care content, conversation history, or operational records held by Chesnut are never stored. See OpenRouter's privacy policy for its processing practices.

Sharing

Stable-team members you invite can see the shared care space. We may share information if required by law, or with infrastructure providers who process it only to run Chesnut.

Retention and deletion

We retain saved care-space content while it is needed to provide your account and shared care features, until you delete it or delete the account that owns it. Account deletion removes the active account's care records and uploaded media through a staged cleanup process and removes its sign-in identity. Limited transaction, deletion-prevention, security and operational records may remain to handle subscription events, prevent deleted accounts from being recreated by delayed billing notifications, and meet legal obligations. Recovery copies and records retained by Apple or other processors are separate from active app content and may follow different retention periods. Contact us about retained data or a deletion request that has not completed.

Your choices

To delete your account, sign in and open Account & Settings > Delete account. Reauthentication may be required. Deleting an account does not cancel an Apple subscription: manage or cancel it in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. You can also edit or delete care notes, stop sending AI questions, and change camera or photo permissions in device settings. Email 1@chesnut.us for access, correction, deletion or privacy help. We may need to verify account ownership.
